Visualisation of Robert Plutchik's theory of basic emotions February 2007
Robert Plutchik, an American psychologist and professor, developed an emotion theory from 1960s to 80s. He assumed that all emotions result from eight congenital basic emotions that developed evolutionary. I made an attempt to visualise his theory on a poster during Prof. Matthias Krohn's information mapping seminar at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. Project description+ at INCOM.org. Set top box patterns the T-Online messenger July 2006
Instant messenger software has almost become ubiquitous. This project ports the T-Online Messenger Software to a medium we talk about everyday: television. During a programme friends can chat with each other directly over the set top box or the HTPC. The concept was developed within the seminar "Multiple User Interfaces" by Prof. Dr. Frank Heidmann at FH Potsdam. All students developed new ideas for the interface and interaction of T-Online's instant messaging software, resulting in a pattern library.
Product search machine June 2006
The Product search machine helps customers in a department store to find a product suited to his needs from a large number of similar products. I developed this project in the seminar "Information architecture meets physical interaction design" at FH Potsdam. Project description+ (in German) on INCOM.org.
MediaPortal since 2006
MediaPortal is a free media center software. Development started in 2004. MediaPortal provides a digital audio and video player, a dvr and many more functions. The user interface uses a TV and is controlled by an IR remote. TASKS: As a member of the MediaPortal Design Team I focused on usability improvements and other user experience issues. Currently I'm not in active development because I'm doing my Master's which doesn't leave me enough time.
Audi car configurator since 2003
Customers can build their new Audi using the Audi car configurator system on the Audi website. There are several country-specific adaptations of the Audi car configurator system, eg. USA, France, Spain, Italy an China and user-group-specific versions eg. for journalists or Audi employees. TASKS: Enhancements and further development of the initial Version 4 designed by IBM. Integration of new functions and usability improvements.
Audi AK Edit & B2C Admin since 2002
The AK Edit was orginally developed as a content management system for picture and text assets for the Audi car configurator. Currently the AK Edit delivers complex car-specific asset data to different Audi web applications. Various enhancements like "B2C Admin" allow external editors and importers of different markets to manage their own media. TASKS: Adaptation, enhancement of functionalities, development of new tools and improvements in the workflow.
Wolters Kluwer Product Locator December 2005
Content and user management tool for a simple product database containing text documents. A search engine helps the user find publications of all Wolters Kluwer publishing companies.
Audi dealer search December 2005
Das Büro am Draht developed a radial search, a result list with a map, a new route planner and other services for the Audi dealer search. We especially concentrated on ambigious search queries. TASKS: Complete redesign and new information architecture, usability improvements compared to the prior version.
Audi car configurator for employees November 2005
This enhancement of the Audi configurator enables Audi employees to configure a new Audi with special conditions. The user can switch from leasing to purchase mode during the configuration process. The leasing mode shows restricted items, the purchase mode recommends items that increase the resale value of the car.
Carmeq intranet portal October 2005
Design for an intranet portal for the automotive company Carmeq. We used the wiki software "Twiki", adapted and redesigned several templates and implemented new functions.
Audi Pocket Guide July 2005
Prototype of a pocket pc application with an interactive presentation of an Audi carline (Audi A6 Avant). Existing web content was ported to the pocket pc platform and new content, e.g. a mini car configurator was developed and integrated into the application. TASK: Participation in development of design and information architecture.
Audi web banner 2003–2005
Interactive banner ads for the Audi car configurator and the Audi car sales platform. When the user chooses a model and a colour within the "configurator banner", it renders a picture of the car. The user can then complete his configuration in the Audi car configurator. The "car sales platform banner" shows the number of available cars after the user has chosen criteria like model and price. The user can then complete his search on one of the sales platform websites. Several websites showed the banners for a longer period of time. Yahoo! Case Study: "Having average click-through-rates of 10% this campaign was one of the most successful ever on Yahoo!"
Audi.de CMS enhancements July 2004
Enhancement of Razorfish's customised CMS for Audi.de und Audi.com. Development of a tool to ease the use of the content maintenance of the "Car models" pages. The news content area was also enhanced by uncoupling the news publishing process from the rest of the website publishing process. This lead to cost savings and the news content was always up-to-date. This successful concept was also adopted for a new calendar tool.
Audi mobile car configurator March 2004
Student project in cooperation with Das Büro am Draht. Design and concept for a presentation of a finished car configuration in an MMS message and on a PDA. The user can send his individually configurated car from the Audi configurator direcly to his mobile phone via MMS. An initially planned download functionality for PDAs was not implemented.

Student project at SAE Institute. This website shows the history of television in Germany. It focused on the introduction of commercial TV stations in 1984.
Website "Resource Consulting" November 2003
This website was for a personnel consultant and uses strictly reduced layout to focus on the content. It does not show any of the "business people" stock photos that are typical for recruiting and consultant websites. TASK: Design and information architecture.

Audi provides customizable websites for their dealers. Therefore they have a modular structure. Audi also provides a styleguide on a CD-ROM for dealers who want to develop their own website. TASK: Information architecture and design.

Street One provides customers with constantly changing fashion. The website mainly introduces the company and the user can find job offers. The collection is integrated into the website's visual world. TASK: Information architecture.

Bubble Bobble Shockwave September 2001
Student project at SAE Institute. Porting of the classic arcade game "Bubble Bobble" to Macromedia's Director platform. Graphics and sound were taken from the Commodore 64 version. To keep the fun and user experience of the original game I focused a neat handling and game flow.
A fish's world March 2001
Student project at SAE Institute (team project). Education CD-ROM where children can learn about fishes and their habitat. Children can playfully test their newly gained knowledge.
THEMA 1 2000 / 2001
The online rainbow press news magazine THEMA 1 quoted articles from other newspapers or magzines in a provocative manner. And the editorial staff also investigated new stories. The most important part of the website was a discussion platform where readers could comment the articles and rate each other. THEMA 1 was a spin-off by the advertising agency "Zum goldenen Hirschen". Although it already had many of the Web 2.0 features, THEMA 1 was shut down in late 2001 at the end of the Web 1.0 boom. TASKS: Design and information architecture, interaction concepts, development of new funcionalities. Project management during develoment phase.
